October’s meeting promises to be especially stimulating to all who followed the Vinland Map controversy. If you remember, the Vinland Map hit the headlines shortly before Columbus Day, 1965, as the only known map showing any part of America before Columbus’s voyages. Doubt was cast on its authenticity especially after a microscopic analysis of the ink by Walter C. McCrone Associates, a Chicago firm of microscopists. The controversy rages on.
